Our beloved Guru, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) turns sixty-seven this year. As we all know, throughout Her life of all-embracing love, compassion and selfless service, Amma has reached out to millions across the world, providing solace, giving new hope and filling them with inspiration.
Even when times are challenging for many people around the globe, no one is left out. Amma often says we are all beads strung together on the same thread of love. Amma constantly reminds us that only the cool breeze of sincere and innocent prayers can lift the dark clouds hovering over the world today. Therefore, let us all do our bit to improve the situation in the world today in whichever way possible. Let love be our guiding light, for only love can heal and unite!
As in previous years, various spiritual and seva activities are being organised in September in conjunction with Amma’s birthday. We will commence our month-long Amma’s 67th birthday celebrations with prayers for world peace. We will be continuously chanting Lokah Samastha Sukhino Bhavantu (May Peace & Happiness Prevail) 10,008 times at the KL Amma Centre this Sunday, 6th September 2020 from 8 AM onwards. Venerable Datuk Kirinde Sri Dhammaratana, the Chief Buddhist High Priest of Malaysia will inaugurate the chanting session and launch the 2020 Amma’s Birthday celebrations.
You are most cordially invited to join in the prayers and other activities with your loved ones. The social and spiritual activities for this year will strictly follow the guidelines and SOP laid down by the Malaysian Government to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma), more popularly known as the Hugging Saint and a renowned humanitarian has been visiting Malaysia since 2002. Known across the globe for her fathomless compassion, selflessness and spiritual wisdom, Amma has dedicated her entire life for the benefit of other people. Every day she sits for hours on end, receiving person after person in the loving embrace of a mother, sharing tears of the sorrowful and spreading joy. Through this blessing, countless hearts have been opened to a world of peace, love and service. Inspired by Amma, citizens of Malaysia have been coming together to provide food and showers for the homeless, to plant saplings as part of afforestation drives, and to practice meditation and other spiritual practices. The young, the old; the rich, the poor; people of all faiths, nations and walks of life are taking inspiration and solace from the peace and love awoken in the human heart by Amma.
Here in Malaysia, there are many opportunities to get involved in activities and spiritual practices inspired by Amma. There are regular bhajans (devotional singing) sessions, which also involve spiritual teachings and meditation. Please explore our website to know more.
